ACT Coach Information
ACT coaches must be approved by the Region 104 Board. ACT coaches must be Advance Certified (or be Intermediate Certified and committed to taking the next Advance Certification course). To be considered for Board approval, coaches must submit an application with two letters of recommendation. The application is simply a letter or email stating the applicant’s interest and request for approval to coach an ACT team in a specified age group. It should also include a brief statement of the applicant’s experience, licensure or certifications, and goals for the team. The letters of recommendation must be from the parent of a player that the applicant has coached in the past year. These materials should be sent to the ACT Commissioner, and must be received and complete no later than three business days prior to the regular September Board meeting. You can email them to the ACT Commissioner at ACT@ayso104.org. Only complete applications will be submitted to the Board for approval at the regular September meeting.
If you are approved as an ACT coach, you will first meet with the other ACT coaches and the Commissioner to review ACT and AYSO policies and procedures, and then, (collectively with any other ACT coaches in your age group/division) plan and implement your tryouts. Tryouts should take place in October. Tournament play can begin in November, so applications and all other team paperwork must be completed, and uniforms obtained, in a timely manner.
